Bancs à rayures / Benches with stripes

You can find them on the first picture, on the right, under the pergolas.
They are strange:
Too large for one, too short for two. Uncomfortable , because of those kinds of planks which with they are made. And when you sit on them, they are too high, and your feet don't touch the floor anymore.
Anyway, they are real benches!...
(In the deep of the picture, the pretty little museum of history of Menton)

Attention aux bateaux../ Beware of the boats..

(The sign says: "Beware of boats that run on shore".
And here they are..)

Pourquoi?../ Why?...

Pourquoi mettre un banc ici?..
Why to put a bench there?...

Peut-être à cause de ça...
Maybe because of that...

Banc guerrier / Warrior bench

Please notice that the feet of that bench are real cannonballs (or at least very good imitations...)

Le plus long?.../ The longest one?...

Ce banc en bois suit l'arrondi du petit promontoire sur lequel se trouve l'oeuvre d'art moderne;

This wooden bench runs around the whole place where the work of art is standing.
So I think it's the longest bench I've ever found!

Pegasus Bridge

My friend Elisabeth visited recently the beaches of the U.S. debarquement of the Second World War in Normandy.
Knowing my addiction to benches, she offered me this pretty collection, that will be posted today and the next days.
Thank you so much, m.t.s.!
