Do you suppose that's for the guard to rest who stood at the entrance? I would ahve enjoyed knowing more about the place where the bench is located.

To answer to Paulie:
According to what I know, I'd say Yes, the bench was made for the guard to rest.
The village where I took the picture is called "Eze";If you want to see more pictures of it, you can go to my post of April, 20, 2008.This place comes from Middle Age, and it's known as the highest village near the sea in whole Europe (I don't know if it's true...).Cars are forbiden (anyway, they couldn't cross the small streets, only donkeys could)), all houses are protected, and in summer there are a looooot of tourists... When you're there, you can really see what was the way to live in old times.There are walls, stairs,gates ,narrow streets...A very lovely place
