Près de la fontaine /Near the fountain

I love the bench! So many narrow slats to make one curving bench. . . and the darker ones of brown are unique to me.

I like this photo for more reasons tho. . . as it was downloading, I first spotted the diamond shapes in the brickwork. Then, I see there is more than one bench (partial bench to the right). Then, I see two water spigots from which to obtain water and I wonder why hey are there? The chair at the table is almost big enough to be called a bench and I wonder what kind of place the area is? It has the stone wall on the left and the table and chair on the right besides at least two benches. . . a beautiful barrel of flowers, a stone veranda AND then there's that stand in the front center. . . is it for an umbrella on rainy days or to keep the sun off? Do you know what kind of place it is?

The picture was taken in Villefranche. That's a small town near the sea. This town was build in the middle age, around a citadel, and still remains today with streets broad and narrow, and very small places. In the most part of the town, cars can't enter.
Every little space is used. There are fountains everywhere, because in the old times it was the only way for people to get water. There are a lot of benches, because there are a lot of stairs to climb in this kind of city.
On this small place, there is a restaurant. There are tables outside to get more clients. The stand is for an umbrella to keep the sun off.And there are flowers everywhere, because the narrow streets are a little like balconies for people living there. That's a very beautyful place where I like to stroll...
